World's Biggest Tibetan Mastiff-Eleven-month-old red Tibetan mastiff Hong Dong ("Big Splash") was bought by an unidentified coal baron for 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) and was handed to his new owner on March 12 in the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao. Local media said the dog may be the Most expensive dog in the world.

World's Most Expensive Dog Red Tibetan Mastiff- An 11-month old pup named Big Splash (“Hong Dong” in Chinese) recently sold in the Chinese city of Qingdao for 10 million yuan — about $1.5 million in U.S. dollars.
The 3-foot-tall, 180-pound dog is one of a breed that has been around since time immemorial. Tibetan mastiffs are said to have guarded nomad camps and monasteries, and are rarely seen outside of Tibet.

Update # 1. World's Tallest Dog Zeus, is a Great Dane from Otsego, Michigan, USA, was declared to be "the tallest/largest dog in the world" by the Guinness Book of World 2013 Records.Zeus was measured in October 2011, It was 44 inches (1 1 m) from her mouth to the withers.
Update # 2.Great Dane measuring the same size as an average ass into the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest living dog of all time.
The humongous hound Zeus, named after Ancient Greece father of the gods, an incredible 111.8cm (44in) high.
The three-year-old can now be forwarded to the father of the dog - has introduced officially in the record books.Standing on her hind legs the canine towers over its owner Denise Doorlag incredible extension 4pm 7ft.
Zeus is an awesome dog, 'says Ms Doorlag from Michigan, USA.
The only downside is that everything costs more; food, medicines, transport.
'We had to get a van to be able to carry it. Oh, and if he steps on your foot leaves bruises ... '
She said: 'It is the most common thing people ask, "Is that a dog or a horse?" And "Where a saddle?"
The previous record was held by Giant George, which is one inch shorter than the rival of the same race.

Update # 3. Guinness World Records 2013 Book Published Thursday (Sep,2012) detects Zeus, Great Dane from the U.S. state of Michigan, as the world's tallest living dog.
Height: In a 3-year-old measures 44 inches (1.1 m) from the foot to the shoulder.
Standing on its hind legs, Zeus stretches to 7-foot-4 (2.23 m) and towers over its owner, Denise Doorlag. Zeus is just an inch (2.54 cm) taller than the previous record holder, Giant George.
Weight: Zeus weighs 155 pounds (70 kg) and her 30 pounds (14-kilogram) bag of food every two weeks. Doorlag says he had to get supplies to be able to carry Zeus.

The Great Dane dog by the name of George is the tallest/largest dog ever recorded. George started out its life as a puppy with oversize paws. Finally, it would grow in the paws. George was five months old already growing the size of Labrador and he was more than a pound a day!
The Great Dane, also known as German Mastiff or Danish Hound, a breed of domestic dog (familiar's lupus Cains  known for his Great Dane huge amount in one of the world highest dog breeds, the current world record holder, measuring 112 cm (44 in) from the leg to shoulder "Zeus". Great Danes were originally bred to hunt deer and wild boar.

Origin: The Saint Bernard is a breed of very large working dog from the Italian and Swiss Alps, originally bred for rescue.

>Weight-The St. Bernard is a giant dog. The average weight of the breed is between 140 and 264 lb (64–120 kg) or more and the approximate height at the withers is 27½ inches to 35½ inches (70 to 90 cm).
>Coats and Colors-  The coat can be either smooth or rough, with the smooth coat close and flat. The rough coat is dense but flat, and more profuse around the neck and legs. The coat is typically a red color with white, or sometimes a mahogany brindle with white. Black shading is usually found on the face and ears.
>Tail,Ears and Eyes,etc--The tail is long and heavy, hanging low eyes should have naturally tight lids, with "haws only slightly visible". Sometimes the eyes, brown usually, can be icy blue, nearly white.

St. Bernards were exported to England in the mid-19th century, where they were bred with mastiffs to create an even larger dog. Plinlimmon, a famous St. Bernard of the time, was measured at 95 kg (210 lbs) and 87.5 cm (341⁄2ins), and was sold to an American for $7000.Commercial pressure encouraged breeding ever larger dogs until "the dogs became so gross that they had difficulties in getting from one end of a show ring to another".

An 1895 New York Times report mentions a St. Bernard named Major F. measuring 8 feet 6 inches (2.59 m) in length, who, if the claims are true, would be the longest dog in history.[18] Another St. Bernard named Benedictine V Schwarzwald Hof (Pierson, Michigan - USA) also reached 315 lb (143 kg) , which earned a place in the 1981 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.

Like all Large Sized Dogs, Saint Bernards been well socialized with people and other dogs with anxiety and prevent possible aggression or territoriality. The main threat to small kids being beaten by a bigger breed. Generally, they are a loyal and loving breed, and if socialized are very friendly.
Owing to its large grown size, it is important that proper training and socialization commence while the St. Bernard is still a puppy, so as to avoid any difficulties which usually follows training large dogs.

The rapid growth and weight of a St. Bernard can result a severe deterioration of the bones if the dog does not get nutrition and exercise. Many dogs are genetically affected by hip dysplasia or elbow dysplasia. Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) have been demonstrated in the hereditary race. They are prone to eye disorders called entropion and ectropion, as the lid on or off. The breed standard indicates that it is a serious mistake. The breed is also prone to epilepsy and seizures, heart disease called dilated cardiomyopathy, and eczema.

Saint Bernards' diets should include lamb, wheat and potato. Regular combing and brushing will keep your Saint Bernard's coat looking great. Baths should be given with mild soap, and only when necessary.
Saint Bernards need annual checkups to stay healthy. Vaccinations are due as follows:
  • 6-8 weeks: Distemper, Leptospirosis, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvo, and Corona virus (DHLPPC)
  • 10-12 weeks: Second DHLPPC
  • 14-16 weeks: Third DHLPPC and rabies
  • Annually: DHLPPC and rabies booster
Saint Bernards shed twice a year. Regular vacuuming is essential during these times.
